Professor Gabriel B. Ogunmola is a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science. He was elected into the Fellowship of the Nigerian Academy of Science in 1987 and has served several times on the Council of the Academy. He served as President Nigerian Academy of Science January 2003 to August 2006. He brought great development to the Academy leading to its selection and participation in the ASADI programmes in collaboration with US National Academy.. He has collaborated with many research teams nationally and internationally He served on the executive council of IAP and NASAC. He served as the Chairman of the ICSU Regional Committee for Africa from 2004 to 2011 for 6 years.
The Council of the Nigerian Academy of Science has approved the award of a new prize to deserving Nigerian scientists to be called the Nigerian Academy of Science Gold Medal (NAS GOLD MEDAL). Professor Gabriel B. Ogunmola FAS is the Chairman of the Nigerian Academy of Science Gold Medal Committee.
